Nicole
Denni-Krichel,
President of the F.N.O.:
Madame President,
Dear colleagues and friends,
A few months ago we asked the EC members of CPLOL whether we
could organise this spring session in France, in order to pay special tribute to
the 20th anniversary of the creation of our European Committee.
Jean-Marc and I thought that Strasbourg, with its European
Parliament would be the ideal symbolic place for this.
And today, please allow me to have the pleasure of welcoming you
all, colleagues representing our 28 member countries, and honoured guests.
Our meeting will start with a commemorative morning here, in the
European Parliament; followed by buffet with refreshments organised by the FNO
at the Novotel Hotel in Strasbourg. We will all make the short journey by tram
at around midday, and the working commissions will also be held at the hotel.
Tonight, the FNO is inviting you all to our anniversary dinner,
at the Le Dauphin Restaurant, situated in the centre of town, near our famous
Gothic cathedral, which was built between the 12th and 15th
century.
I wish you to have a great time in Strasbourg, and that you may
find a little time to enjoy our cultural heritage.
Before our European president, Birgitta Rosèn-Gustafsson
officially opens the session, I wish to publicly thank the people in charge of
the events within the European Parliament:
- Madame Sylvie Lambert-Dreyfuss,
- Madame Nathalie Christmann,
- And all the technicians.
Special thanks to Frédérique Brin-Henry, who, since 1988, is part
of this adventure, which is also a linguistic challenge.
We had hopes that some official personalities could have joined
us today ; the chosen date is however two days before the next EP session, and
prevented many MEPs and ministers being present. The Mayor of Strasbourg will
welcome us officially at the Town Hall.
In the name of the Fédération Nationale des Orthophonistes, and
in particular the members of my national team, I solemnly welcome you and wish a
happy anniversary to CPLOL.
