Overall description / Legal basis

The public service is regulated by the Health Ministry to children and adults.

Organisation of SLT in the country

Children and adults are being attended by -

Public Service:

•  Social Security:  Hospitals and some Health Centres.

•  Social Service:  People with disabilities, and Day Care Centres for elder
    people

•  Education:  There are some SLTs in the Public School, and at Early Attention Centres

 

Private Service:

Some Centres and Clinics have agreement with Social Security.

There are clinics or medical centres working with Health Insurances.

There are SLTs in the private schools.

Patients who choose to have private therapy will have to pay the full cost

themselves.

Education / training

Since 1995 the SLT studies are in different universities in Spain.

All have the BA degree (3 years).

Authorisation / license / recognition of diploma

Spanish SLT are considered authorized by the diploma.

There are no regulated requirements for continuing education.

Recognition of professional qualifications obtained abroad

The authorities have the right and the power to decide if the diploma must be considered and recognized. In most cases 3 o 4 years at university level will be recognizable.

Linguistic competence: test is not required.

Status of the profession and the professional

SLT is recognized by the public in general as well as by different authorities. But there are no specific legal regulations concerning SLT.

The salary varies from Euros 700 to 1200, according where you work Public or Private service.

There are some Royal College in different autonomous communities, but these  are regional.
