The speech and language therapists work with individuals who, because of their disabilities, present or are likely to present problems of integration and adaptation in their family, professional or social surroundings.

The population that benefits from speech and language therapy therefore covers all stages of life, from early childhood to old age. The SLTs practice in various public or private structures: independent practices, institutions and specialized schools, service schools, psychiatric services or health facilities (hospitals, clinics, homes etc.)

After investigations, SLT treatments concern disorders that refer to a specific speech and language therapy nomenclature and can be acquired, developmental or degenerative.

They concern the language (expression-understanding), communication, voice and orofacial functions (e.g absence or delay of emergence of language, aphasia, stuttering, hoarseness, difficulty of learning written language, dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, deafness, cleft palate, swallowing disorders and nutrition, language disorders after brain injury and / or neurodegenerative diseases, ...)

The Professional Practice Commission is one of the two permanent commissions of the CPLOL.
